I’m a tease, always have been. In my teens, Jax Declan tried to warn me about staying away from the bad boys. The only boy I ever wanted was Jax. But, no matter how much I tried to play with him, he rejected me.

I haven’t see Jax Declan in years. A couple friends and I are going back to the Bayou for the summer. A little older now, and a bit wiser, I’ve decided that I’m going to find my teenage crush and I’m going to break him. This summer Jax Declan will play with me.

But the closer I get and the more I learn about the reserved, discreet, and sexy Jax Declan. Well, I’m starting to think that Jax Declan might just be one of those bad boys he tried to warn me about all those years ago.

c synopsis

“When we were kids, my cousins planned for their weddings like they were coronations. Sleepovers revolved around notebooks stuffed with clippings from bridal magazines and elaborate plans scrawled in purple ink. Horse drawn carriages, twenty tiered cakes, groomsmen in tails, and scads of bridesmaids, none of whom were nearly as pretty as the bride. Me? I’d just yawn and wander off to the backyard and play fetch with their dog. I never cared about any of that crap, at least not until I met Joe.”

With her wedding rapidly approaching, Molly’s days consist of herding Joe off to tux fittings and diaper changings times two. She misses life on the food truck, but she isn’t quite ready to leave the twins. Planning for every detail to be as perfect as her groom, she hopes her instincts are wrong that it’s all too good to be true.

Knowing Molly like he does, Joe can plainly see that his girl needs to decompress. She’s as stubborn as always, and talking her into a honeymoon without the babies proves easier said than done. Molly’s on edge about every little thing, from the nosey next door neighbor to cars speeding down their quiet street. While Joe revels in their otherwise blissful existence, he worries that Molly’s paranoia may be a symptom of something bigger.

Come back to Austin one last time for the wedding of Molly Elizabeth Hildebrandt and Joseph Samuel Jensen. Raise a glass in celebration alongside their family and closest friends. Wave goodbye as they ride off into the sunset toward a dark fork in the road that could destroy their happily ever after. Will they finally get their fairytale ending? Find out in Heartwood, the explosive conclusion to the Carved Hearts series.

c excerpt

I was blocks away from the restaurant when traffic came to a crawl. Anxiously tapping the steering wheel, I finally passed the scene of the accident which had tied up both lanes. It seemed some tourist had slammed their Winnebago into a Smart Car, and Austin’s rubberneckers needed an eyeful. The gridlock continued, and growing ever more frustrated, I pulled out my phone and texted my date.

Traffic. I’m a mile away.

She didn’t respond. I was about to call her, when my phone chimed.

I glanced down at the picture message. No accompanying words, but I didn’t need any. The top of her garter belt jutted out from her skirt. It was visibly pinned to black stockings. I licked my lips, ready to park and sprint the remaining blocks to the restaurant. Taking a deep breath, I soldiered on.

When I finally entered Bess Bistro, I scanned the place eagerly. It didn’t take me long to find her in the dimly lit restaurant. She sat at the bar facing away from me sipping a martini. I watched as she placed her glass carefully on the surface in front of her. Her upswept hair accentuated her long, lovely neck which begged to be tasted. Seeing those stockings in the flesh made my temperature rise, and the way her midnight blue dress hugged her heart-shaped ass had me salivating.

Some old dude with greying temples and a droopy porn mustache was giving her the full court press. He was turned sideways on his stool, leaning into her personal space and talking to her cleavage. She nodded politely in response to whatever nonsense he was spewing, as his lustful eyes continued to violate every inch of her exposed skin.

A couple of years back, I might have punched him right in the ‘stache, but this was the new and improved me. The guy that didn’t fly into jealous rages or break irritating people into itty bitty bits. However, when he reached out and stroked her dangling earring, ‘Old Joe’ reared his ugly head. I was tempted to rip him off of his stool and toss him out the front door by the seat of his Depends. Instead, I took a moment and another deep breath. I had kids to think about now. Everything I did (or didn’t do) set an example for them. True, they were far too little to know what I might do here, but their blabbermouth aunts would be more than happy to fill them in later in life. As I stood contemplating the pros and cons of my next action, a far more civilized strategy occurred to me. I felt a devilish grin bloom on my face and I sauntered to the bar.

I slid onto the empty barstool next to her. Reaching out, I picked up her drink and took a sip. “Is this martini dirty?”

“Well if it wasn’t before, it certainly is now.” Her stunning eyes took in my tailored suit, and the corners of her mouth curled coyly as she reached out and reclaimed her drink from me. Her full sleeve of tattoos somehow meshed perfectly with the silky dark material she wore. She was dazzling, and I was glad I’d decided to wear her favorite tie.

“What’s a woman like you doing sitting at a bar alone?” My greedy eyes devoured her plunging neckline and her glossy, full lips. She giggled quietly, and the way her fingertips trailed along the stem of her glass made me heady with anticipation. Mustache Rides shot me a dirty look and turned reluctantly back to his scotch.

“Waiting on my fiancé.” She looked up at me from under her sultry lashes.

“He made you wait?” I asked. She nodded, and the bartender who’d been hovering nearby approached. “Johnnie Blue. Make it a double.”

“He’s a busy man.” Molly sighed dramatically, lifting her speared olives to her lips. She tugged one off showily with her teeth, her eyes fixed on mine.

Oh…it was definitely on now.

“He’s a fool,” I shot back.

The bartender barely stifled a chuckle as he poured my whiskey. It was clear he thought I was trying to pick her up, and of course, I was. Though we owned a house and had children together, and it was my ring on that pretty finger of hers, these facts were all irrelevant.

Tonight Molly planned to make me work for it.

She glanced at the bartender, and then back at me. She was well aware we had an audience. Her amusement was thinly veiled, but she kept a straight face and stayed in character.

“How late is he?” I continued, my voice sounding wanton and thick.

Very.” Her decisive response reeked of promiscuity and I could feel the bartender assessing us curiously.

“I can keep you company while you wait if you like.” I leaned my elbows onto the bar and looked her over casually. She turned toward me and crossed her long legs. She was purposely drawing my attention to one of her best features, and I allowed my eyes to drop. My gaze trailed from the black straps at her ankles all the way up to her risqué hemline that ended far above the knee.

“Buy me another drink and maybe I’ll let you buy me dinner.” With that, she downed the last swallow of her martini. With a wicked smile, I turned back to the bartender who shook his head in blatant admiration.

“Oh, she definitely needs another one of those.” I stated. Mustache Man muttered something and abandoned his drink on the bar. The bartender glanced at Molly, and the gentle curl of her lips made him blush so profusely that his bald head looked sunburnt.

Excerpt from Interference © Dakota Madison

When I finally hit the last room in a
long row of rooms I see a guy sitting there looking bored and staring at two
fast food containers in front of him on the table.
He glances up at me when I enter. The
first thing I notice is his piercing green eyes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen
eyes that green on a human being that weren’t Photoshopped
The second thing I notice is his messy,
light brown hair. It doesn’t look like it’s been combed it in a week. It makes
me wonder if it’s some new hair trend or if he just doesn’t bother to style it.
Not that I have too much room to talk when it comes to hair. My curly red mop
has been the bane of my existence since I was a kid. About the only thing I can
ever do with it is pull it back into a pony tail.
“Sedona?”
I nod.
“Have a seat.” He points to the chair
right next to him.
I remember Lewis’s warning and take a
seat across the table instead. I want to be as close to the door as possible.
The guy is big and muscular and much more intimidating than I imagined he’d be.
My heart is thumping in my chest because
his size and rough demeanor are making me nervous.
When he pushes one of the fast food
containers in my direction I cringe. I rarely eat fast food and when I do it’s
from Just Veggies, an organic vegetarian place near campus.
He doesn’t hesitate to open his
container and take a bite of the messy burger that’s dripping some kind of
white sauce all over his pile of fries.
My stomach turns in response.
“I bought you a burger.” He points to
the second container he’s pushed in my direction. “Ambrose scheduled our
sessions during lunch.”
I make a point of pushing the container
back over to him. “No thank you.”
He frowns. “It’s from Frankie’s.
Everybody loves Frankie’s burgers.”
“Clearly not everyone.”
His brows knit like he can’t believe I
refused the food he bought.
“You don’t want it?” He actually sounds
hurt.
“No, I don’t.”
“Why?”
I lift my book bag from the ground and
point to one of the many political cause buttons I have covering the knitted
tote my mom made for me.
He barely acknowledges it. “What is that
supposed to mean?”
Now I’m the one who’s frowning. “Meat is murder. It’s a slogan. It means
that I don’t eat animal flesh.”
“You’re one of those vegans?” He doesn’t
bother hiding the condescension in his voice.
“Technically I’m a vegetarian. I eat
free range, organic dairy products.”
“Fine. I’ll eat the burger.” He glares
at me as he opens the second container and takes a huge bite of the burger.
I’m appalled until I notice that he
slyly pushes both containers away and doesn’t take another bite of either
burger.
“I guess I should have brought an apple
for the teacher.”
“Only if it’s organic. And I’m not
actually a teacher. I’m a tutor.”
We both stare at each other for a long
moment. Awkward does not even begin to describe our pairing. We’re like two
people from different planets trying to communicate when we don’t speak each
other’s languages.
I remove a slip of paper from my bag. “Mr.
Ambrose gave me your schedule of classes for the semester. You’re taking Film
Appreciation, The History of Jazz, Advanced Yoga and Stress Management. What’s
your major?”
He shrugs. “Undeclared right now. But
I’ll probably go with Sports Management.”
“So these are Gen Ed classes?”
He cocks his head and looks confused.
“General Education classes,” I clarify.
“Elective classes you need to take to fulfill requirements that aren’t directly
related to your major.”
“I guess so.”
I’m a little disturbed by his
lackadaisical attitude, but I let it go for the moment. We’re clearly not going
to be able to develop much of a rapport so maybe it’s best just to get down to
business.
“We’re just handed a class schedule,” he
clarifies. “Assigned classes. We don’t pick them ourselves.”
“And they assigned you the History of
Jazz? That’s the class that you’re having trouble with?”
“The dude who was supposed to teach the
class croaked and they got this new chick who apparently doesn’t like
basketball.”
There is so much wrong with his
statement I don’t even know where to begin. “Might I suggest that you call your
professors either professor or doctor and not chick.”
I bristle at my own use of the
derogatory word, but I continue, “And what does her not liking basketball have
to do with your performance in the class.”
At this he gives me a sly smile. “Let’s
just say she’s not willing to play ball the way the other professors are.”
I’m not sure exactly what he means by
that, but there seems to be some kind of sports reference that is lost on me.
“So you’re saying your other classes are
going well and you’re just having trouble with the one class, History of Jazz?”
He leans back in his chair and eyes me
for a few seconds before he nods. I don’t like when he looks at me like that. It’s
like he’s examining some weird, new specimen and trying to make sense of it.
“All of my other teachers are huge
basketball fans and they know I’m the in the starting lineup. I’m not sure what
the jazz goddess’s problem is.”
I take in a deep breath before I say
something that’s sure to get me fired. “Why don’t we start by calling her Dr.
Fisher? I think that might help. And why do you think she has a problem?”
“She doesn’t like basketball. That’s not
normal. Everybody loves basketball. This entire campus lives and breathes the
sport.”
“I don’t love basketball. I don’t even
like it. Not even a little bit.”
He actually looks stunned for a moment.
Like I slapped him. Then he regains his cocky composure.
“You’re one weird chick,” he mutters
almost to himself, but still loud enough that I can hear him.
“Excuse me?” I say even though I heard
him. I just didn’t like having an insult hurled at me by someone I don’t even
know.
“You. Are. One. Weird. Chick.” His words
are slower and louder as if I didn’t hear him the first time.
“I actually heard what you said. I just
didn’t like it.”
A smug smirk appears on his face that I
would love to slap right off if I could.
I continue. “In case you haven’t noticed
I’m not a bird I’m a human being. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t refer to me
as a chick.”
He bites his bottom lip as if he’s
actually giving it some thought. Then he says, “You’re one weird woman. Is that
better?”
“I’m not sure why you have to bring
gender into the equation at all. Why not just call me a weird person?”
That makes him laugh. “You don’t care
that I think you’re weird. You just don’t want me to call you a chick?”
“I’ve been weird my whole life. I’m used
to it.”
“At least you’re willing to own it.”
“So did you bring your textbook with you
or are you just going to spend the next ninety minutes taunting me?”

“I kind of like taunting you.”

“Nice ride.”
Lex’s head snapped toward the sexy, feminine voice. A woman
in a red skydiving suit walked toward him, her eyes on his bike.
He tried not to cringe. She was everything he hated about
Hollywood. Her makeup was over the top, like she was trying to cover up all her
imperfections. And it was impossible to tell her hair color because of the
atrocious multicolored wig.
As though she felt his disapproval, she shoved her hands in
the pockets of her jumpsuit. The action drew his attention to her generous
hips.
“Thank you,” he said politely and hoped the woman would go
away.
She stepped closer. “I like the modifications.”
Lex gave her a second glance, trying to see beyond the heavy
makeup. He noted her button nose, lush lips, and the gentle curve of her
cheekbone. “Modifications?”
“The handlebar, the chrome finish, and the hand-adjustable
rear suspension weren’t in the original Road King. The adjustable seats and the
fenders are also new.”
A woman who knew bikes. Now he was intrigued. He noted more
things about her. She wasn’t busty, but her posture said she was proud of
whatever she had under the suit. He was a curves man. Not something to brag
about, but curves and gentleness were two things he appreciated and enjoyed in
the opposite sex.
He couldn’t tell anything about her. Not her hair or the
color of her eyes hidden by the long fake lashes and hooded eyelids as she
studied his ride. Not that it mattered now. She could be wearing a sack over
her head and he’d find her interest in his bike fascinating.
“It can hit eighty in fifth gear and still run smoothly,”
Lex said. “You obviously know your bikes.”
“I’ve ridden some, modified a few. Road Kings are powerful
and beautiful, but I prefer smaller bikes. I own an XD after years of being an
F4i fan, but—”
F4i were made by Honda and were favored stunt bikes. Eddie
planned to replace them with Leeds bikes. “But?”
Her head lifted, and their eyes met. She flashed a smile.
“The XD could do with a little tweaking here and there. How does RK handle on
the highway?”
He’d pushed the RK to one-forty with ease, but he was still
reeling from the effect of her smile and couldn’t respond. It transformed her
face, garish makeup and all. She had gorgeous turquoise eyes, darker on the
edges and lighter toward the center. Then what she’d said registered.
More tweaking? Eddie and his team of engineers had worked
their asses off to get the engine and proportions right. He reigned in his
annoyance and forced himself to focus on her question. What was it? The RK on
the road.
“Handle her with care, and she’ll give you the best ride of
your life.”
“Sounds like something I’d like to try,” she purred,
grinning while giving him a slow perusal that said she was flirting with him.
“I love rides. All kinds of rides,” she added softly, voice all husky, eyes
meeting his under the canopy of her fake lashes.
And damn if she didn’t get a rise out of him. She wasn’t
even his type. “Maybe I’ll let you, if you ask nicely,” slipped out of his
mouth before he realized it.
“I don’t do nice, but I could make an exception”—she
laughed, her eyes twinkling—“for the Road King.” She turned and threw over her
shoulder, “Nice chatting with you. Take care of that baby. It’s truly a king
among bikes.”
Lex didn’t say anything. He was still trying to find his
balance. Who knew a woman’s laugh could have such an effect on him. When she’d
paused at an exception, he’d expected
her to say him. He’d never been jealous of a bike until today.
His eyes followed her, loving the sway of her hips, which
was surely for his benefit. She confirmed it when she glanced over her
shoulder, winked, and laughed.

That rise she’d gotten out of him was now a throbbing
hard-on. Lex shook his head to clear it and focused on controlling his body. He
didn’t know what had just happened, but he was finally looking forward to being
at the Perris Valley Skydiving School today and
the party this weekend. He had to know the identity of that woman.

She leans toward me, closing the small gap between us and brushes her painted lips against my cheek. “And you look exactly like what I’ve been needing, Jack.”
She’s aggressive. And she smells good enough to eat. The blonde hair that is on my list of requirements is perfectly styled. Long, sexy, and outlining her full breasts that are the centerpiece of her tight black dress. Elegant, yet still provocative enough to make my slacks tighten.
“I ordered some appetizers in case you were ravenous,” she says, purring the word ravenous and letting me know I can eat anything I want. Anything.
I glance at the table. As if I could miss the three, silver domed-covered plates awaiting my arrival. I despise it when people try too hard.
“Thanks. But, I’m not. Not for food anyway.”

The day I walked into his boardroom, I had no idea my life was about to change forever. It was supposed to be a simple proposal that would catapult my career. The chance to help Hurst & McCoy save one of their flailing business lines seemed simple enough. However, I never expected that one look at Maxwell McCoy would have me grasping for control. He’s demanding, charming, powerful; most of all he’s beautiful, inside and out. As hard as I fought against the attraction, he broke down my defenses. But he’s hiding things. Even when secrets, lies, and greed threaten everything I have worked so hard for, I couldn’t walk away. There’s no denying, the moment my eyes landed on Maxwell McCoy was the moment I became his.

Maxwell McCoy

Rich. Brilliant. Powerful.

People only see me as CEO of Hurst & McCoy. The ruthless businessman whose mere presence demands respect. People don’t know I chose to leave a life I loved in order to protect my father’s legacy and reputation. When my company’s future was threatened, I had no choice but to seek assistance. The day Stella Sullivan walked into my boardroom was the day my heart started beating again. One business proposal, from the topaz-eyed beauty, changed my life. She tried to deny our unyielding chemistry, but I wouldn’t. I should let her go, but I didn’t.

The smokescreen I created soon comes crashing down, forcing me to fight for everything I love.
c excerpt

Stella groans lightly and rolls over. I’ve been watching her from my desk for half an hour, trying not to wake her. But as soon as she realizes my side of the bed is empty, she sits up dazed. Her head turns toward the bathroom and then turns to me.

“What are you doing?” she asks sleepily.

“Working a bit.”

“What time is it?”

“A little after seven.”

“Why the hell are you up? Do you ever sleep?” She falls back onto my bed and the sheets slip down her naked body.

I jump to my feet and make my way to her side of the bed in a second. “Yeah, I slept, then I worked out, showered, and decided to work until you woke up.”

“You worked out? Showered? What the hell is wrong with you? I thought we weren’t going anywhere this morning.”

She throws an arm over her eyes and I take the opportunity to kiss the skin up to her elbow, then pull her arm down so she has no choice but to look at me.

“I didn’t go anywhere. I have a home gym down the hall. I showered because I was gross, and we are staying here this morning. We have a meeting at ten, but until then, it’s us.”

“You have a home gym? Where?”

“Yeah, babe, there’s about two thousand square feet you’ve not seen yet. Two more rooms and a gym.”

“What?”

“Babe, you’ve only been here a few times, I haven’t had time to show you.”

“This is a whole lot of information for me this early, without coffee. Remember I’m not a morning person.”

“So you keep saying, but I love proving you wrong.” I kiss her softly and slide my hand under the sheets and down until it reaches her pelvic bone.

My fingertips run lightly back and forth from hipbone to hipbone until her breath catches. Every time I hear that small sound, I know she’s getting turned on. Then my hand slinks lower to her slick heat and I press one finger in, sliding her wetness back and forth. “You are the best morning person I know.”

“That’s because you give me orgasms before my coffee.”

c synopsis
Lonely and lost, I knew I had to leave, even though I didn’t know where I was headed. Driving without a purpose, I let the roads lead. I was just a shell of my former self, devoid of feelings. Hoping I’d find the missing pieces of myself along the way.

Then I saw him—those menacing deep brown eyes, and an air around him that was formidable. I knew that picking up a hitchhiker was a dangerous thing to do, but I was desperate.

Desperate for what, you ask?

To feel.

Prologue
Hitchhiker © Stacy Borel
“The heart sees what’s invisible to the eye.”- H. Jackson Brown Jr.

                It’s
funny how life takes you through different twists and turns. As children, we
don’t think, “When I grow up, I want to be in a relationship where it seemed
like a fairy tale in the beginning, but sadly I’m soon undervalued and pushed
aside. Then I think I want to find a stranger on the side of the road and fall
in love with him. I want him to take me down a dark and dangerous path that
could potentially destroy me and make me mentally unstable.” Could you just
imagine if we knew then what we know now, after having lived through hell? What
paths we would have avoided just to prevent the struggle and heartache? Would
you still pick the same course so you could feel it, just once? To know what it
was really like to love someone with your very essence, only to have it ripped
away? The burn, the loss, the grief, the dry crusted tears on your face? The
earth-shattering moment you knew you were well and truly gone and never coming
back? Or would you choose safety—the known, monotonous days—and comfort?
                I think
if I were given these options all those years ago, I would have picked the
second one. As humans, we crave safety and routine. However, having lived
through the moments when I thought my next breath would be my last without him
by my side… I’d pick the pain. Why? Because it was real. I fought a hard and
valiant battle to deny the lust and passion, as if I had a choice. I didn’t
step into it with my eyes closed. Oh no, they were wide open and saw the road
signs that glared in my face.
                Stop.
                Dead
End.
                No
Outlet.
                Not
fucking happening.
                You’re
fooling yourself.
                This
will kill you.

                You
see, my heart knew what it wanted. It claimed him. The law of attraction did
not give me a choice in the matter. That battle that I fought, it wasn’t with
him. It was with myself. I tried to go back and remember what it was like
before I met him. Who I was, how I acted, how I spoke, the patterns of my life.
There was no remembering anything. That girl was gone. The girl I am now… well,
I am still falling down a rabbit hole. And this bitch is a bottomless pit.

Excerpt from Guarding Nadia © Lainey Reese

Two hours later, Nadia was frumped out in baggy sweats and a
ratty tee, with fluffy socks on her feet that were- unbelievably- resting in
Jonas’ lap.  When she’d come down from
her bath, the men had the popcorn popped and a selection of candy and drinks
spread out that she knew didn’t come from her kitchen.  She’d smiled and gratitude filled her when
she realized that one of them had made a run to the store.  It was a small thing to most people, but for
her the gesture was huge.  They were here
to protect her from harm, not to coddle and entertain her.  She knew that this was a rare occurrence on
their part, and she was touched deeply by it and them.  The contract that she’d signed in their
office two days ago had outlined in minute detail what services they provided,
gummy bears and foot rubs had not been on that list.

“I still can’t believe you picked Die Hard to
watch,”
 Jonas commented as he
dug his thumbs into the arches of her feet with deliriously wonderful
results.  She moaned and replied;
“Hey.  Just because I’m a girl
doesn’t mean I have to watch chick flicks.
I love action movies.  Die Hard is
a classic and Bruce Willis is a freaking stud.”
“I agree with the classic part.”  Caleb said.
“No comment on the stud part.
He’s not my type.”  Nadia
chuckled and cranked her head to look up at him.
When she first sat down tonight, she’d been seated between
them like a proper lady, with both feet on the floor and her back resting
against the cushions behind her.  Before
the first preview had even finished, Caleb and Jonas pounced.  Jonas had grabbed her feet and tugged them
into his lap, while Caleb took her by the shoulders and adjusted her until she
was reclining against him with her head comfortably nestled on his chest.  His elbow was on the couch back, and his
fingers had been playing in her curls nonstop.
There was something in his expression as she gazed up at him
that was different.  If she didn’t know
any better, she would call that look he was giving her ‘intent’.  Part of her said she was being fanciful, and
it was just the wishful thinking of her long neglected hormones running away
with her.  The other part of her said she
was right on track.
They had her spread out between them, and had been touching
her nonstop since she’d sat down. Yes, they were here on a job.  However, the familiarity of their touch had
left the realm of professionalism the moment she’d clung to Caleb and cried
earlier.  She’d made the first move.  Breached the lines and took things beyond
professional.  Could they be acting on
that, and letting her know in a not so subtle way that they were open to being
more than just her bodyguards?
Considering who she was and what she did for a living, the
erotic images that immediately sprang to life in her brain had her muscles
loosening and her pulse rabbiting.  Then
reality smacked her in the head.  Stuff
like that only happened in books.  No way
could this be anything more than what it was.
She was deluding herself if she thought that anything even remotely
close to what she was fantasizing about would happen.  Threesomes were things that only reckless and
drunk college students did.  People in
the real world, with careers and families didn’t have wild sexcapades on the
job.  Or off for that matter.  This was just stress and loneliness making
more out of their kindness than what was there, and she needed to get a hold of
herself before she ended up looking like an idiot.
Caleb touched his finger between her brows.  “What’s caused this?”
“What do you mean?” She asked him.
“You were smiling a minute ago and now there’s a frown
here.  What thought caused
that?”  His finger was still on her
brows, gently tracing them and it was doing amazing things to her insides, even
as his question caused her to flush uncomfortably.  She ducked her chin and broke eye contact as
she tried to think of something to say.
“Hey.”
Jonas squeezed at the foot he was rubbing and she looked at him.  “Honest answers only between us.  No half truths or dodging either.”  His expression grew intense.  “On any subject.  No matter what it is.”
Nadia felt as if she were in an alternate universe.  Everything felt unreal, as though she were in one of her books after all.  Could it be that these two unbelievably sexy
and intense men were thinking the same thoughts that she was?  Did she dare tell them the truth that they
demanded?  What if she did and then she
had to suffer through the humiliating let down speech?
What if she did and they took her up on it?
All Nadia’s life she’d lived as a responsible, sensible
young lady.  She never smoked or partied
as a teen.  Never snuck out of the house
at night to meet up with friends or a boy.
She didn’t have her first drink until her twenty-first birthday.  On top of that, despite what she wrote, sex
for her had always been one on one.  In
the dark.  Boring.  No fuss, no frills, no kink…no fun.
Nadia had always believed that was the reason she wrote what
she did.  There was so much pent up
inside of her that it had to have an outlet somewhere or she’d combust.
As she tore her gaze from Jonas and looked back up at Caleb,
she thought to herself that they might say no,
but, they might just say yes. God help her but she didn’t want to miss
out on what would happen if they wanted her, and if there was even a small
chance that they did, it was worth the risk.
“I was thinking that this was very intimate and sexy at
first.  Like something out of one of my
books right before things get wild and kinky.
Then I told myself to snap out of it.
This wasn’t a book, and that wild and kinky didn’t happen in the real
world.”  She swallowed before
adding; “At least not to me.”
“Bruce.”
Caleb said.
“What?”  She
was confused.  His look was back to being
intense, and she would swear he was about to kiss her, so she had no clue why
he would say something like that.
“Bruce.” He repeated.  “That’s your safe word.  Say, yes sir, if you understand and
agree.  If not say, Bruce and we stop
here and now.”
“Holy shit.”
Nadia was dumbstruck.

“That wasn’t one of your options,
sweetheart.”  Jonas’ chuckle was as
seductive as a caress.
